Line Edit

I offer Line Edits for both fiction and nonfiction manuscripts. The Line Edit comes between the Content Edit and Copy Edit stages. Line Edits enhance the clarity, rhythm, flow, and style of your writing—at both the sentence and paragraph levels. 

What you can expect from my Line Edit: 

  • My Line Edit includes one pass through your manuscript, where I will focus on helping make your story even more beautiful by pointing out any occurrences of passive voice, author intrusions, info dumps, or weasel words. We will replace these with active, engaging phrases, beautiful prose, and smooth pacing. I’ll also provide feedback regarding pacing, writing voice, and phrasing. For fiction manuscripts, this will include feedback on POV, dialogue, scene transitions, and descriptions. I will also perform a light check for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization inaccuracies. 
  • I will provide the critique via comments and margin notes in your manuscript  and utilize the “track changes” feature for in-line edits.

Manuscript Assessment

A Manuscript Assessment helps you discover ways to strengthen your storytelling. It’s a blend of content, line, and copy editing in one bundle—but with less intensity. You’ll get feedback on both a macro and micro level. 

This type of edit is perfect for a serious, unpublished writer who wants comprehensive feedback to help them grow in their writing craft (without breaking the bank!). It’s also valuable for authors who want to tighten their manuscript before pitching their story to agents or publishers. I offer this assessment for fiction manuscripts. 

What you can expect from my Manuscript Assessment: 

  • I will provide light critique regarding grammar, pacing, phrasing, plot, and dialogue via comments and margin notes in your manuscript. I will also utilize the “track changes” feature for in-line edits. 
  • You’ll receive a detailed written report (5-10 pages) that evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript, covering key elements like plot, character development, prose, and writing style. I will also suggest tips for improving and boosting the overall marketability of your manuscript. 
  • I will assist you in refining your manuscript’s blurb to ensure that it’s polished and compelling.

This edit is similar to a Manuscript Assessment—but for your story’s first 10 pages. This is perfect for someone on a budget who wants comprehensive feedback before pitching or sending their first 10 pages to an agent or publisher. I offer this edit for fiction manuscripts.

What you can expect from my 10-Page Evaluation:

  • I will provide detailed character, plot, pacing, phrasing, and grammar critique via comments and margin notes in your manuscript. I will also utilize the “track changes” feature for in-line edits. 
  • I will assist you in refining your manuscript’s blurb to ensure that it’s polished and compelling.

Short Story Assessment

In this assessment, I will assist you with refining your fiction short story to ensure that it’s engaging and impactful by correcting grammatical errors, helping you improve your sentences, and ensuring that your characters are unique.

What you can expect from a Short Story Assessment: 

  • I will pay particular attention to helping you make each word matter and ensure that your story has a strong theme, beginning, and ending. You’ll receive feedback via comments and in-line edits on your manuscript.
